Notes on Styling | 56 | A little re-introduction...
I was working on the email my new subscribers receive this week and wanted to share it again. With the busyness of the internet and all the things we subscribe too, sometimes it can be nice to remind ourselves of the little things.
It also helps me to re-centre myself in what I want my little corner of the internet to be and feel like for you.
….And for new subscribers of which there have been some lately, welcome. I’m so happy you found us.
I came to styling having done a Commerce Degree in UCC (Cork), working then in Law before I threw all the cards up in the air to move to London and work as a Wedding Planner and train in Personal Styling.
It is so true, you just never know where life will take you.
And isn’t that the magic of it all? Taking leaps and landing in new places.
So much of the joy is looking back at the unexpected bits that got you to where you are now (and that sometimes, we don’t see that at the time) & embracing the steps we took to learn more about ourselves and figure out what we want from this little life.
So today, I am re-sharing my *slightly updated* introductory words.
It can be so hard sometimes to step outside our head and heart, which tend to get flooded with so many thoughts, too distil down to the most important bits and get to the essence of what we want to say - a bit like our clothes.
I hope it resonates.

Hi,
Thanks so much for clicking subscribe ♥
I’m Julie and I’m so happy you found my little corner of the internet.
I have been a Personal Stylist, a Teacher & Trainer for 16 years now. I have always been fascinated with using clothes as a tool to help see ourselves & our style through our own unique style lens.
Over the years I have styled women who the fashion industry would say have the ‘perfect body’ and I’ve see how hard they have been on themselves about their body and how their clothes look. Inversely, I have met women who don’t have ‘the perfect body’ but they embody who they are, and have embraced all the parts of themselves. In short, they are going for it.
Having great style is not about having the perfect proportions or height or body. It is about accepting yourself, seeing yourself, and understanding yourself. It is in how you combine clothes, colours and ideas that embrace all those things that no one else has in the way you have them. Nothing and no one is perfect. We each have to take the time to figure out our own personal style recipe to buy better, feel better and dress better. And to enjoy really the gathering that comes with having a beautiful wardrobe.
Notes on Styling is an exploration of a style journey I call Style Design, which I have been working on with clients for the last 2 years. The aim is to help shine a light on all the parts of who you are physically and emotionally and help you embrace those parts of yourself and see how much a part of your style they can be.
Style Design is a step-by-step journey (including session one, in your home at your wardrobe doors) to help you feel more connected to all aspects of the you I see. From my experiences of knowing what to embrace, my goal is that it helps you to create a new relationship with yourself and helps you let all the other versions of your style go - the ones you hold onto for external reasons. My hope is that it ignites a feeling of creativity and confidence that perhaps was missing or you didn’t think you could have in getting dressed.
Notes on Styling is therefore my place to explore my work with developing Style Design as it evolves and grows through personal and client stories, experiences and ideas.
In sharing my thoughts and ideas, I hope it opens up your thinking around what’s possible for your style and wardrobe but most of all I hope it reminds you that being you is the most unique style expression of all.
Thanks so much for being here.
