My favourite person online to follow is The Anna Edit. Of course it’s because I love her style - but I also love her approach to her style.
Though Anna (of The Anna Edit) is also cleverly and subconsciously selling me all the beautiful things she shares (this in one way or another is how she earns her living), I feel more at home with her content. Her way of considering what she adds to her wardrobe feels lighthearted yet thoughtful and natural. She is a learner and she’s not afraid to share her mistakes (albeit she hasn’t had too many lately). Her Substack is brilliant too.
She recently did a colour analysis, which by her own admission changed the types of colours she has been drawn too in both buying and styling her clothes. She has said it’s greatly impacted how she puts her clothes together. She talks on this You Tube Video (go to 8 minutes in and 25 minutes in for some gem discussion on this) about how she’s always loved warm tones but now that she knows she is a True Autumn, some colours that perhaps would have passed her by before, she can now see their merit.
She has been around You Tube for a long time (over 12 years) so she really is a pro at it all. But what I love is how she shares her learning, taking her time, sharing the things that help her feel more confident in putting her clothes together and being honest when something she’s tried feels a step too far for her, for her style sensibilities. She knows herself and it shows.
She has also this year (as have half the internet it seems) done an online styling session with Celebrity Stylist Allison Bornstein. She beautifully shares her learnings here if you want to soak it all up. It’s really reflective of the learning that can be achieved in a myriad of ways when it comes to our style nowadays. Just looking at this video will make you feel more inspired to look into your own wardrobe differently.
All of this is to say, I have been thinking lately that a real personal win (for me anyhow) is to be able to reduce the random scrolling (whether that’s YouTube or other social media) and instead, go deep with a couple of people online who have an approach and a way of speaking about style that gives you more genuine personal value.
For some of you, if you have a lot of Water & or Fire in your elements, you might well have a love of seeing all the choices and the feeling of creativity and unique directions you can be taken in. For others (like me) with more Wood & Metal, we are more likely to get more from having a plan, a feeling of being productive with it all and doing little things that reduce the overwhelm and feel a little more curated. Realising this about myself, is one of the ways I’ve come to feel better in my clothes, in my wardrobe and in my own style choices.
And that’s what I want for you too.
To understand yourself enough to know what helps you make better choices.
To be able to step outside the usual fashion and consumption moulds and into something much more freeing and creative (for you) around your own personal style energy and sensibilities.
I guess this is all to say this week that August is a great time to try this one out.
To try to tune out of all the noise and into those people and places that make you feel lighter.
To go gently with yourself and your style.
August is not a time to do anything wild.
A new season is almost upon us.
Just be free to wear what feels good to you, and if someone you look at online makes you feel worse about yourself or your style - stop.
I’m taking little slow down too
I too will be taking a break from writing here for a few weeks.
I’d like to take it slow(er) in August. Enjoy our last few weeks in Paris. Swim with the dog (in a Paris Canal would you believe - they are now so clean!), think about some other things and catch up on some books - and in truth switch off my brain a little too.
If you have a paid monthly subscription here, (thank you so much), I will be putting these on hold so you will not pay anything until I am back here. ♥
I will also be thinking on the ways you can work with me this Autumn on your own Style Design, maybe ways that feel more accessible to you and that I feel ready for now I am into this new way of styling. I have thoughts. Let’s see how they formulate.
And so to manifest some more of these nice sunny days that have been creeping in…
let me share…
My little Paris diary of sorts
It’s just some pictures really, from my camera roll; you know, of that special time ‘we moved to Paris for 4 months’ (I’ve always wanted to say that!) and as I am still nibbling on croissants and writing to you from our little Paris balcony, it feels utterly ridiculous NOT TOO live in the last few weeks as much as I can.

Enjoy the rest of the Summer wherever this finds you.
…and if you're toying with doing ‘a thing’ you’ve been meaning to do, however scary or strange to others - I urge you to do it, because this is the life we are dressing for, living and breathing in. It’s all around us right now to grab.
With all that seems to be happening in the world, this is the song that sings more and more loudly to us with each passing month.
See you all soon. I am always on email if you would like to reach out - hi@juliecobbe.ie

Thanks for your steer towards Anna, I’ll certainly check her out. Enjoy your precious time off in Paris! The photos are great.
I’ve come up to Donegal for the whole of August and so will be enjoying a laid back time too. Xx
Pictures are so gorgeous! Enjoy your time off ❤️❤️❤️
