Notes from the other side.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could bottle the feeling a great outfit can give us? All the bits that make it so for us each individually.
I have been a Personal Stylist, a Teacher & Trainer for 16 years now and have always been fascinated with how the clothes I pick for a client come from all the things I see as part of their unique style identity. An identity built from all the parts of you that it’s hard to see yourself.
Little things matter in an outfit in order to create a unique recipe and feeling that just connects the style dots for you.
In a world that tells us we always need the next thing, what I know for sure from my work is that less but better brings so much more meaning, creativity and connection to a wardrobe.
I see clothes as my tool, to help clients get to know a little more about who they are and their unique style recipe. Looking at clothes through a new lens can help to refocus your time and energy on the brands, the styles and the ideas that will light you up. So many wardrobes are built around external influences, but knowing what the word stylish means to you will help you find more of what you love and help you let go of what no longer makes you feel good.
Every woman deserves to enjoy the process of getting dressed each day. Even if you don’t think you are the creative type, getting dressed can feel creative and fun when you have the right things to pick from.
I now work one-on-one with women using a method I have developed called ‘Style Design’. Style Design is a step-by-step journey I have been developing to help women feel more connected to all aspects of what they buy and how they put their clothes together.
I have been looking for a home to share my own thoughts and general musings bourne from my styling experiences over the years. I hope that by sharing, it helps you reconnect to little things that make you feel more in control of your own personal style, wardrobe and how you feel about it all.
Let’s dig in.
Having worked in fashion and personal styling for 16 years, I have learnt so much about the power of our clothes to connect us to the most confident version of ourselves and simply connect us to who we are.
I set up my personal styling business (called Stylefish) in Ireland at 26 in 2009. Having taught personal styling classes to over 3,000 women through department stores such as House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols and other venues around Ireland, I grew Stylefish into a Personal Stylist training school with 2 investors from Dragons Den in 2011.
I have been training Personal Stylist’s in Ireland for 8 years while also continuing working one one-on-one with clients (which is my passion!), Speaking at fashion and corporate events, Hosting fashion events and Writing on all things style and confidence. (those pesky dragons kept me busy).
It’s been a busy & beautiful journey and one I am immensely proud of. I know I started out in fashion because I loved clothes but it turns out they also have immense power to change how a person sees and values themselves and hence lives their lives.
The trick has always been in discovering all the bits that make you who you are that should build your look and being able to put down the parts that are not you but are just ‘fashion’.

I will have no set pattern for when I share this season. I like to think of this little place as a sort of diary to share thoughts, ideas and things I love and believe can be helpful to you too.
My writing is free for now (that may change) as the posts may be a little sporadic! I hope you enjoy my writing and if you would like to reach out about my coaching or anything else, you can email me also hi@juliecobbe.ie.
